Role of Women- in the Kite Runner the role of women, as is many things, split between Afghanistan culture where women are submissive and American culture where women are virtually free to “roam”.
Betrayal- Betrayal is a huge theme in the book. Amir betrays Hassan by not helping him in his time of need, and Amir feels betrayed by his father.
Brothers- The book shows that a people do not have to be a blood brother to have brother hood.
Guilt- Amir’s guilt begins from birth and continues on. It starts with the death of his mother and also rises up when he does not help Hassan.
Redemption- Amir’s redemption is saving Sohrab from Assef.
Exodus- The book is about Amir’s journey through life and the troubles and tribulations he must face and overcome.
Fathers & Sons- Amir tries to win his father’s attention. Baba only notices Amir when he accomplishes something good. A father must always be behind his son.
Class Distinction- Pashtuns are clearly the majority in the Afghanistan culture and the Hazaras are clearly treated as the lowly class.
Parallelism- in the Kite runner as in the bible Amir and Hassan represent Isaac and Ishmael the sons of Abraham.
Character Foils- Hassan is Amir’s foil. Hassan always stands up for Amir and never being scared completely opposite of Amir.
Foreshadowing-
Flashback- First the entire book is a flashback because this is Amir telling the story; however he also has flashbacks of his childhood frequently.
Positives & Negatives-
Settings- America and Afghanistan, Hazara and Pashtun, Present day and Past days, before and after war, California and Kabul.
Minor Characters
1. Assef bullied the boys when they were younger and then killed Hassan.
2. Farid who does not like Amir but ends up helping him because of what he is doing.
3. Rahim Khan who tells Amir he is Hassan’s brother and the closest thing Amir has to a father.
4. Soraya’s role as a woman is unimportant however she greatly helps Amir grow as a person
5. Ali was Baba’s servant and close childhood friend to Amir and Hassan.
Symbols
1. Assef’s brass knuckles represented fear and hate.
2. Kites are the kids escape however they still represent war in Afghanistan.
3. The slingshot is an example of courage like David and Goliath.

Deer Hunting and Duck Hunting
Deer season and duck season are both amazing times of the year. Hundreds of hunters take to the woods to try and harvest the trophy animal. These two types of hunting have many differences and similarities from environment, conditions, and the equipment used.
Deer and Duck hunting are both great opportunities to explore the outdoors. Deer hunting takes place in the woods from lush pine thickets, to hardwood bottoms to, open fields. The deer prefer and environment with good cover to hide and with enough food to support themselves. Deer do not like to travel long distances for their resources. Duck hunting is surrounded by swamps, ponds, and open bodies of water depending on the duck. Ducks will fly miles to find a food source. They will roost in one pond and fly to another for food only to fly back to their roost later that day. There are a large variety of ducks and each prefers a different environment. Wooducks prefer small swamps to live in while the Mallards prefer open bodies suck as large lakes. Both animals have a magnificent environment to hunt in.
The environment of the animals has a large impact on hunting them the conditions which a person hunts them is also very important. The deer love the cold weather as do the ducks. The moon has a large factor on the deer’s movement. If the moon is full the deer will move at night instead of in morning or afternoon making it difficult to harvest one; however, the ducks will not fly at night. The ducks always wait until morning and the afternoons to fly. The cold weather makes hunting conditions harder. While deer hunting the wind in a tree stand can be hard to handle. When duck hunting the hunter is surrounded by water the entire time making the cold much more piercing.

New Post
Well it has been awhile since I have posted a post. I have been working a lot lately because business is picking up since deer season is about to start. I have been getting a lot of orders for ammo from 223's, to 270's, to 45acp's. We have also been repairing a lot of guns. My scope rings for my rifles came in the mail the other day. I mounted the scope on the gun and started testing some loads for it. I finally found a load for the gun and now i don't have to sell it. We went to the fair last night and it was rather dull. First off i do not really like going to the fair; however, I went because my mom got free tickets and my girl friend likes it. We did the usual riding rides and eating extra greasy food. There wasn't a lot of people there becasue of the rain, which was good becasue we didn't have to stand in line for anything. That is all i have really been up to.

The Difficulties of our latest essay.
The example essay was definitely not the easiest essay i have ever written; however, it wasn't the hardest. I found myself having to think more in depth on this essay than previous ones. My problem in writing is i know what i want to say but i do not know how to say it. I find myself dwelling on one little part for hours. What made this essay easier was the fact that i love my topic because it is one of my favorite things to do and for the last 6 years it was what i was devoted to. My advice to the next student in my seat would simply be to pick a topic they really like it made it much simpler for me.

Keys to a succesful running back
A running-back is a very important part to a football team. The running-back is the work horse on offense. He is used in tough situations to gain precious yardage to keep the offensive drive alive. The running-back position is a great position; however, it is only achieved through hard work and determination. The running-back is also not only a one man show; he is very dependent on his team for blocking and support.
The running-back is in the best of shape and on top of his game. This position calls for a lot of hard work on the field, at practice, and in the weight room. The process starts in the weight room with various workouts such as bench to build your upper body, squats for your lower body, and circuit workouts including crunches and jump rope for your core. These three sections are not only important to a running-back but are also important to the entire team. Upper body strength is necessary when running the ball. The running-back must never drop the ball and has to be able to take multiple hits in the arms and chest. Lower body strength is extremely important because he must be able to drive through defenders and break tackles. My running-backs always had a saying that “No one man brings you down” and good lower body strength will assure that will not happen. Finally the core is the last key ingredient. The circuit workouts will help build abdominal strength in turn making the running-back tougher and more balanced. This also allows him to take more hits and not be tackled as easy.
The running back is a huge offensive figure obtaining all the recognition from scoring touchdowns, however, if it were not for his offensive line and receivers all that would not be possible. When a play is called in the huddle the running-back is given a whole in the line to run through. The offensive line is given blocking responsibilities to eliminate threats on the running-back. If the play called for the ball to be run to the two whole then the center would block the linebacker and the right guard would block the nose guard or tackle depending on the formation of the defense. The receivers are also important to the running-back. If a sweep is called then the running-back will be tossed the ball and will run around the outside of the line. The offensive line will be blocking the internal defenders so they can not pursue the running-back and the receivers will be blocking either the safeties or the defensive backs again depending on the defensive formation. The blockers are all very important if one man misses an assignment the entire play could fail.
Running-back is an extremely fun position to play; however, also a very demanding position with a lot of hard work and a strong bond with the team.

Thoughts after the Descriptive Essay
I'm glad i finally finished my descriptive essay. My biggest problem in writing it was that i don't really like to discuss things about my self or really write for a matter of fact. I was able to overcome this only because i had to in order to keep a good grade in this class. I will write if i have to but i do not really enjoy it. My paper started out very bad because I didn't listen well enough and misunderstood what we were supposed to be doing, enough said on that.
I very much enjoyed reading the other blogs. I like to read other peoples work it helps me better mine and makes me realize what i did wrong and how i can improve. The stories i read were very good; however i didn't like commenting because i don't like judging other peoples writings. The comments i got from Mrs. Aiken and students were very helpful in finishing my paper. I like for people to be brutally honest and not hold anything back. I don't like "beating around the bush" about things just come right out and say it.
